| Community Involvement |
| Michiana Eye Center & Facial Plastic Surgery is dedicated to providing our community with the information and resources necessary to educate individuals and promote good ocular health through comprehensive eye examinations. |
| Onsite Vision Screenings |
| To further our commitment, Michiana Eye Center & Facial Plastic Surgery has extended our services to the
community by offering Onsite Vision Screenings. These screenings provide multi-level
vision and ocular testing by trained eye care professionals at no cost to the recipient and
at convenient locations.
The American Academy of Ophthalmology recommends comprehensive eye examinations every 2-4 years for adults age 40-65, and every 1-2 years for adults over the age of 65. Certain eye diseases and risk factors require greater frequency. Nearly half of the 50,000 Americans who go blind each year lose their sight needlessly. Our screenings include risk assessment, distance and near vision testing, and glaucoma screening via intraocular pressure testing. Michiana Eye Center & Facial Plastic Surgery's staff will identify patients with impaired visual acuity and those at high risk for eye disorders or potentially blinding diseases. These patients are then strongly recommended to schedule an eye exam with their health provider. For those patients who are not currently under the care of an eye health provider, appointments can be made at the time of the screening with any one of our Michiana Eye Center & Facial Plastic Surgery doctors. Screenings can be held at educational facilities, assisted living centers, employer and community sponsored health fairs and expos, and many other lcoations and events throughout our community. | Charitable Involvement |
| Michiana Eye Center & Facial Plastic Surgery prides itself on the initiatives taken to give back to the community. The doctors and staff continue to involve themselves with such charitable organizations as The Salvation Army, Hannah's House, The Lions Club and others. We're happy to sponsor local schools in their endeavors to raise money for academic and athletic programs, as well as area churches and synagogues. Most recently, our office applied to the Illinois College of Optometry to become a teaching facility for 4th year optometry residents who are going through their required year of office rotation. |
